The Leaping Ping-pong Ball

Our children used their force of air to make the ping pong ball jump from one cup to another.

They puffed and puffed. Pheww! That was hard work!

Board games have been known to help instill many skills for children to develop, regardless of age. They help teach our children to:

Take turns

Children learn to cultivate patience and wait for their turn. They prompt their friends by calling their name, when it’s their turn to move. This encourages children to communicate with one another.

Improve maths knowledge

Educational board games teach children the basic counting skills and descending skills quickly.

Gain knowledge of basic concepts

Children learn to follow the rules of the board game, play fairly and understand the nature of the game. They learn to keep tabs on their colour and move their respective blocks at the right time.

Grammar and vocabulary

Children have the opportunities to learn correct grammar and vocabulary. E.g. “Please pass me the dice. Whose turn is it?” They learn to cheer for their friends by imitating the teacher’s vocal expressions. E.g. “Common! You can do it!”.

Social Skills

Board games encourage children to be more sociable, allow them to use their own language to interact, communicate with freedom of speech. Some children with poor language command and bad manners may emerge during playtime. However, teachers and older kids will be able to correct younger children and lead them to speak good English and behave well. They learn to make friends easily, play comfortably with anyone regardless of races or religion or the color of the skin. Social skills also includes an exchange of non-verbal language. Children who have no speech in our centre may also join in and have the opportunity to learn new skills!

Recognition of colours

Ludo introduces 4 colours (green, blue, yellow, red). By repeated pronunciation of the colour, and indication (by pointing at their colour blocks),

young children learn to identify and recognize colours confidently.

Sports Practice 2015

Sri Eden had their annual sports practice from the 17th to the 20th of March 2015 at SMK Sri Mutiara. Our children were divided into two groups according to their skills and abilities: junior group and senior group. We focused on teaching them the basics of playing basketball, as a team.

Welcoming the Year of the Wooden Goat at Genting

Chinese New Year is a Chinese festival which marks the start of a new year. This festivity is the time for family and friends to gather and reunite, which is the most fundamental part of the New Year.
Resort Communication and Public Relations Department of Genting Malaysia Berhad took this favorable time to invite 10 organizations to unite along in welcoming the “Year of the Wooden Goat”. These organizations consists of underprivileged children and senior citizens from all over Malaysia.
On 28th February 2015, at 8:30 am, 29 students and 14 caretakers boarded the bus provided by Resort World Genting with excitement. A handful of parents from Sri Eden volunteered themselves to assist our children during this event and they were assigned to certain children to look after. Sri Eden would like to thank those parents who did a tremendous job.
This 6 hour event included the Lion Dance and ‘Choi Sen Yeh’ to usher the Guest of Honor, Puan Sri Cecilia Lim, wife of respectable Chairman and chief executive of Genting Malaysia Berhad. The children were also entertained with performances by the Artiste group and magic show.
The lunch provided were food heaven! Our children were blessed to be able to choose from a vast variety of food ranging from local, Western and Japanese cuisine. Our children were especially attracted to the dessert section.
In line with the Chinese tradition, angpows and goodie bags were personally handed to each child by Puan Sri Cecilia Lim.
In the evening, the children watched the long awaited Ultraman Live Show. During the show they were extremely joyous and they were on high spirits.

We would like to thank the management of Resorts World Genting for this invitation.

Hasbro Day of Joy

In conjunction with Hasbro’s second Golden Day of Joy, employees worldwide extended the joy to charitable organisations around the world. Sri Eden, was very fortunate to be one of the organisations invited to celebrate this joyful occasion, in Malaysia.
On the 4th of December 2014, Hasbro Toy (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. spread the cheer to children and young adults with special needs at the Community park in Taman Mutiara Barat. From playing games with the children to providing meals, the true spirit of volunteerism from all 25 staff members of Hasbro, made a difference in the lives of these children. Our children, along with guardians and teachers got together in fellowship. With an aim to help bring joy to children, on a large scale, Hasbro certainly made a positive impact to the community. Thank you Hasbro!
