Co-Creation Workshop on Special Education Needs Programme

Shaping the Future of Special Needs Education!

Sri Eden is honoured to be invited by Yayasan PETRONAS , in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Selangor’s Special Education Needs Unit, to a Co-Creation Workshop on Special Education Needs Programme, aimed at designing a new pilot program for Years 1-3. This program is set to launch in schools across Selangor, Johor, and Sabah.

Alongside dedicated officers, special education teachers, and representatives from NGOs for Down’s Syndrome, Dyslexia, Autism, and learning difficulties, we brainstormed pressing challenges, identified critical needs, and outlined actionable programs for immediate and long-term improvements.

With the current system facing issues like overcrowded classrooms (one teacher to as high as 15 students) and a shortage of adequately trained, passionate educators, change is essential. Together, we aspire to create a more effective, inclusive educational experience for special needs students in government schools.

To end the session, all participants were invited to the Link Bridge on Petronas Twin Towers to have a view of the surrounding landscape.

As a token of our appreciation, Sri Eden presented the director with a piece of mosaic art featuring tree symbols, representing growth, strength, and our shared commitment to nurturing the environment.

In addition to their donation, the Kenso team has actively collaborated with us on our gardening projects. From preparing the soil and pots to planting and fertilizing, their team has shown incredible dedication in helping us make these projects possible. We are deeply grateful for their support and efforts!

The Happy Strummers

“The Happy Strummers,” a 10-person ukulele group from the Selangor Philharmonic Society, paid a visit to Sri Eden and performed several well-known songs for our students. The students were captivated by the music and singing, joining in with enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoying their time with the group.

Gotong Royong with Maybank

As part of our commitment to community engagement and service, we collaborated with the Maybank CFS Retail Credit and CFS SME Banking teams to organize a Gotong Royong event for our students.

We divided into several teams: some were involved in painting the gates and our playground facilities, some in general spring cleaning throughout the center, some in an interactive mosaic art activity with the students, and some in a gardening project where they helped dig out the soil and replace it with new soil.

The teams arrived with cheerful and energetic attitudes, creating a happy atmosphere as they worked. They completed the tasks excellently, and we are grateful to have had their assistance.
